Phoebe and Ryan's Taronga Zoo wedding

Image
Phoebe and Ryan get married at Taronga Zoo, Sydney Phoebe and Ryan were thrilled with every aspect of their Taronga Zoo wedding in Sydney, but what they loved most was their marriage ceremony performed by modern Sydney celebrant Laura Craddock. "Laura was very professional to work with, but, most importantly, so personable, relaxed, warm, and accommodating. So many of our guests asked us how we found Laura - in fact, we'd witnessed our friends be married by Laura last year, and knew we'd love to have her marry us - Laura really makes the ceremony personal. Our guests commented that they really enjoyed the ceremony - it was fun, and really personalised." Giraffes look on as Phoebe and Ryan say 'I Do' "Whilst Laura's happy to be guided by your wishes and vision for the day, she also has plenty of suggestions and options if you just don't know where to start with everything. Laura really captured our relationship and co...

Alex & Tom's 'free range' wedding: Royal Botanic Gardens

Image
This 'free range wedding' was great fun to be a part of. Alex and Tom met each other (and their guests) at the NSW Art Gallery, then together we all wandered down to the Botanic Gardens for an intimate ceremony in the Herb Garden. This set the tone for a warm, relaxed ceremony and a wonderful celebration of love. "We were really pleased and happy with you as our celebrant, you did a wonderful job." - Tom & Alex Ceremony performed by Modern Sydney Celebrant , Laura Craddock. Nothing was a problem to Laura - and she communicates so well, that being separated from us by the Tasman Sea was never a hurdle. She interpreted the words we wrote for our ceremony, so sensitively and with much respect, ensuring we felt it was very much about us and our personalities." - Victoria and Shane Photo by Leanne King / Crackerjack Photographic Studio "Thank you, yet again, for making our day so incredibly meaningful and memorable. Kevin and Emma: Observatory Hill Wedding

Image
Kevin and Emma get married at Observatory Hill. Photo: Paul Toogood Photography. Kevin and Emma kicked off their wedding celebrations at Observatory Hill with ice-cold champagne and a Mariachi band. The ceremony was a relaxed and happy affair with lots of laughter throughout. Images by Paul Toogood Photography. "Laura was great. She made our ceremony a very special event for us and our guests. We had so many compliments afterwards about how great the ceremony was and that the words were really us. This was thanks to Laura. She helped us along the way to tailor the ceremony to run exactly how we wanted and to say what we wanted to say. We didn't have a very traditional view on the marriage ceremony and Laura was very accommodating, including all the things that we wanted to be said. She made us both feel very comfortable in preparing for the big day and made everything run very smoothly on the day itself. We couldn't recommend her h...

Lucy and Karl's colourful bond of marriage

Image
Lucy and Karl married were lucky enough to marry at one of their favourite spots in the whole of Sydney. The gorgeous wedding took place under a majestic fig tree, overlooking Sydney Harbour. In addition to some meaningful readings, the couple chose to include an ancient Celtic handfasting ritual to help bind them in matrimony. Lucy and Karl took the time to think about the values they wanted to be a part of their marriage. They chose braided coloured ribbons to represent each of those values. The ribbons were bound together as they joined hearts and hands in marriage. Lucy and Karl were thrilled with what they described as a "perfect day".  --> "We so appreciate your guidance in developing a truly personal and meaningful ceremony that we will always cherish. From the moment we engaged you as our celebrant we knew we didn't have to worry about a thing - your professionalism and encouragement at each step of the way made the proces...

Emily and Rafael's Sydney harbour-side wedding

Image
The threat of rain didn't dampen the spirits at Emily and Rafael's gorgeous harbour-side wedding in Mosman, Sydney. The handsome groom was excited and a tad nervous waiting for his gorgeous bride to arrive. Her stunning entry down the steps of Bradley's Head Amphitheatre.   Bradley's Head Amphitheatre is one of my favourite wedding venues in Sydney. Access can be a little tricky with limited on-site parking, but the dramatic harbour views are well worth the effort. The sloped, grassy amphitheatre is surrounded by bushland and cliffs, providing a very intimate and private location - the perfect spot for a Sydney wedding. Wedding guests face the sparkling blue harbour ( almost at water-level) and look out at passing boats and iconic views of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The ceremony went off without a hitch . Emily and Rafael chose lovely readings and lots of personal details that had guests laughing and crying. T he couple excha...

The happy couple were sure to be lucky in love with these auspicious numbers on their side. Bride and groom were overjoyed to commit to one another in a warm and personalised ceremony .   " Thanks again for putting so much effort into our special day, you were absolutely wonderful. Timmy and Andrew's intimate Australian beach-wedding

Image
Andrew and Timmy flew half-way around the world to fulfill their dream to get married on an Australian beach. Collins Flat Beach in Manly provided a private and intimate setting for a wedding that was filled with both laughter and tears. As their celebrant, Laura Craddock made it for Timmy and Andrew to plan their Sydney wedding from afar.  "Laura maintained a personal, friendly and highly organised manner throughout the wedding planning, through flexible skype video calls to London and a preparation meeting with us in Sydney" the couple said. Laura guided the UK couple through all the legal paperwork. Her comprehensive Marriage Ceremony Information Pack took Timmy and Andrew step-by-step through the ceremony planning process. The result was a simple, happy and relaxed wedding that met all of the couple's high expectations. Their close family and friends all enjoyed the happy occasion.  "[Laura] kept us calm at all times and we couldn't have asked for ...

Goodbye 'summer', Hello winter

Over the last few days a chill has descended on Sydney and it's time to admit that summer is well and truly over. It's time to look ahead to all the wonderful things about winter...crisp, blue days (it's actually dryer in Sydney in winter, than in summer), cosy slippers, toasty fires and heartwarming stews for example. But before we look ahead, I wanted to quickly reflect on the summer that has just passed. While by no means the warmest or dryest summer on record, Sydney's brides and grooms didn't let the weather get in the way of love. Despite the less-than-ideal weather there have been some absolutely beautiful weddings over the last few months. From Palm Beach to Coolangatta and all around this beautiful city of Sydney, Laura has been privileged to be involved in so many happy occasions, each one special and unique. There have been lots of happy memories from Summer 2011/2012... breathtaking harbour-side and park locations, moving family tributes, touching and he...

As seen in Harper's Bazaar

Image
Sydney celebrant Laura Craddock marries Nicky Oatley and Troy Tindill in a beautiful Sydney harbour-side wedding. Harper's Bazaar was there to capture all the gorgeous moments from this memorable day. The bride gave Laura a 5 s tar review: "Laura married us one week ago and I could not recommend her highly enough. When we were looking for a celebrant we didn't really know what we were looking for until we received an email in response to our enquiry from Laura. She was warm, professional and natural and this stood out compared to the other responses, we then knew we had found the celebrant for us. Laura made the whole process seamless and enjoyable, she provided guidance and the appropriate amount assistance to create a ceremony that was unique to us and enjoyed by all of our guests."- Nicky

A wedding entrance to remember

Start your dream marriage ceremony in a way that you will remember forever. The bridal entrance (Processional) can be a culmination of nerves and anticipation. It is often the first time bride and groom have seen each other on their wedding day and is guest’s first glimpse of the beautiful bride. Modern couples don’t have to be constrained by convention. A civil wedding provides couples with great freedom in choosing how their ceremony begins: You may decide on a traditional bridal procession or; The groom may walk back up the aisle to greet his bride half-way or; Families/attendants accompany both the bride & groom down the aisle or; The bride & groom enter together , without attendants or; You are free to decide who ‘gives away’ the bride - both parents, her mother, children, her whole family or no one at all. Your marriage celebrant should be able to give you advice and suggestions on how to customise your wedding entrance. I know of one bride who ...

Eco-friendly weddings

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something...GREEN? Modern Sydney couples are putting a new spin on wedding traditions by considering the environmental impacts of their wedding. A few simple things can make a big difference to the environmental impact of your big day: Keep it small - fewer guests will give your wedding a lovely intimacy, help your budget & reduce your overall impact on the environment. Stay local - less travel equals less emissions. Consider have the ceremony & reception at the same location to reduce travel. This also helps everyone relax and enjoy themselves. Choose food & flowers in season - reduce food miles & enjoy produce at it's freshest best. Offset the carbon emissions that you produce on the day. Find an open-minded venue and marriage celebrant to help you realise your dreams. Many service providers will share your environmental concerns. Have an ethical gift registry - instead of unwanted wedding gifts, guests c...
